Carla Semedo

Carla Semedo has a degree in Urban and Regional Planning, a Post-Graduation in Real Estate Management and a specialization in Innovation Project Management.

Between 2008 and 2011 has worked as urbanist in the public sector and joined the Municipality of Aveiro in 2011 to work in the design and implementation of several local strategies and plans.

These allowed her to obtain in-depth knowledge about the territory and the involvement of different stakeholders to design common strategies and therefore to develop skills regarding financing prospects and, as a result, working on different co-financed projects, from National to European level.

In 2015, Carla Semedo was appointed responsible for the Entrepreneurship Unit of the Municipality and in 2017, accumulated this position with the management of Aveiro Business Incubator.

Between 2019 and 2022, Carla Semedo was directly involved in the implementation of Aveiro STEAM City (UIA project), which lead to a broader local strategy – Aveiro Tech City – and the creation of a municipality unit with the same name, for which Carla Semedo was appointed coordinator.

Since 2023 and currently, Carla Semedo is Head-Chief of Economic Development and Innovation Division of the Municipality of Aveiro, being also responsible for co-funding municipal projects.

Carla Semedo has also been involved in volunteering associations and in TEDxAveiro organization between 2011 and 2023.
